About MeOriginally from Savannah, GA, I moved to NYC in 2011. When I first attended college, I intended to become a music professor; however, while pursuing a Masters in Music degree, I became interested in libraries and decided to pursue the career. In December 2015, I completed a Masters of Library and Information Science degree from Rutgers University, with a specialization in Digital Libraries and have been working and living in Hudson County since.

LibrarianSince 2014, I have been working at Saint Peter's Prep as the Librarian. In the past four year I have worked to engage readers by curating a collection that both interests students and informs them, and build a online presence by using Libguides, eBooks and eAudiobooks, and selecting the best databases for our community.
Comic BooksSince the age of 12, I have been reading comic books. As a librarian, I have curated a graphic novel collection of close to 700 items that is both educational and enjoyable for the students. These have been great tools for attracting students that may not otherwise be reading. Additionally, I teach a course using graphic novels to explore social issues.
Digitization and GenealogyAfter my family's house was flooded, we lost a number of our family photos and documents. I salvaged what I could and began digitally repairing and cataloging the photos and documents (including letters and deeds from the early 1800s). This sparked a passion in digital preservation.

TeachingI love teaching. Regardless of what job I've had, my entire working career has taken place in schools. Sharing information with students and collaborating with colleagues is intellectually fulfilling and really fun. For the past five years, I have been lucky enough to teach a course, titled Exploring Social Issues through Graphic Novels, that combines two of my passions: social advocacy and the comic book medium. Prior to my current position, I taught instrumental music courses at the college and middle school levels.
MusicianAs a classically trained saxophonist, I teach privately in the NYC area, as well as perform in a variety of venues, including churches and schools, around the city.
VolunteeringI regularly volunteer with local organizations that primarily focus on food disparity and access. Service is important to me and is the reason I lead student-focused service trips each summer through St. Peter's Prep. Additionally, I volunteer regularly in the Hoboken community.
